David Rankine
David Rankine is an author, esoteric researcher and magician who has been making major contributions to the modern occult revival since the 1980s, through lectures, workshops, presentations, articles and books. His esoteric expertise covers a wide range of topics, including the Western Esoteric Traditions, especially Greco-Egyptian magic, the Qabalah, the Grimoire tradition and Ceremonial Magic, as well as British Folklore and European Mythology. David’s esoteric knowledge and scholarship can be seen in the twenty-five books he has authored, his essays in various anthologies, and hundreds of articles for magazines, journals, international part-works and websites.
In 1999 David met his wife, the author and priestess Sorita d’Este, establishing a very productive and creative partnership a year later in 2000 which has developed ever since. He and Sorita co-founded the StarStone Network and Lapis Companions, and have written numerous books together including the Practical Magic Series (Practical Planetary Magick, Practical Elemental Magick and Practical Qabalah Magick, 2007-2009) and The Isles of the Many Gods (2007).

David Rankine & Paul Harry Barron
From 2003-2009 David worked with Stephen Skinner, producing the first five volumes of the Sourceworks of Ceremonial Magic series which includes The Goetia of Dr Rudd (2007) and The Veritable Key of Solomon (2008). This latter work was translated by Paul Harry Barron, with whom David co-produced A Collection of Magical Secrets (2009) and The Book of Gold (2010), and is working with on more projects involving translations of grimoire texts.
His published work in recent years has been characterised by the publication of previously unavailable or inaccessible material on the grimoires and other areas of magic. He is a keen believer in the propagation and dissemination of rare texts, and is a member of both Societas Magica and ESSWE (European Society for the Study of Western Esotericism).
David has given lectures and facilitated workshops around the UK and Europe for the last three decades, concentrating on the subjects closest to his heart, including the Grimoire Tradition, Angelic Magic, Greco-Egyptian and Celtic Mythology and folklore.
